Glendalough - Moone - Tullow

Day One

It all began today. After a great breakfast I went for a quick walk through Wicklow. It started to get real then. It might sound strange but for the first time I realised where I really was. It was great.

We boarded the bus early for the trip to Glendalough. This place marks the area where the early monasteries set up by St Kevin are found. We began with a reflective walk through the labyrinth and then toured the park.

It was a terrific experience. The morning prayer talked about gratitude and it was apt. I was really thankful the for privilege of being given this opportunity. The scenery was spectacular as you can see below.

I even thought an obligatory selfie was in order. This is from St Kevin's cell which over looks the top lake.

Today we also visited the large cross of Moone. We also drove through Hollywood. The original Irish town with the same name. There was even a sign on the hills! It was also the first time that the weather caught up with us. We managed.

We ended the day with Mass at The Church of the Most Holy Rosary in Tullow. This Church marks the resting place of Daniel Delaney who founded both the Patrician Brothers and the Brigidine Sisters.

The learning from today was really just what small a part we individually play on this world. And despite this what great change one person can bring and make. The walk between the lakes at Glendalough was a highlight. A special day all around.
